Thanks Amy, this is a very cool tip! I knew about the column feature in notepad++ but this is even more helpful!!

Thanks for this tip. If this is possible it seems like it should also be possible to sort columns of data in NotePad ++, and separate data by specified values as with Excel’s Text to Column tool. I have tried to figure out how to do this, but have failed. Do you happen to know how to go about it?
Hey Sean – I googled for the solution and played around with a csv file. I figured out how to align the columns by the comma delimiter and then select a column and sort on it. Then I was searching for how to replace the “fixed width” spaces with the comma delimiter again, when I found this article that pretty much sums it all up at once. http://www.cathrinewilhelmsen.net/2014/10/15/edit-columns-in-notepad-with-textfx-plugin/
I cannot tell you how many times I could have used this in the past! Excellent Tip, Amy! Thank you!
Awesome to hear, Chassidy. Good to hear from you, it’s been a while.
It has. I’ve been lurking though. 🙂
